Welcome to the Stevens Elementary School
2009-2010 Annual Fund Drive

"Genius without education is like silver in the mine." Ben Franklin

The Stevens Elementary Annual Fund Drive is one of our primary fundraising events for the year.  Rather than asking our children to sell candy or gift wrap, we are asking you to donate to our Annual Fund to help us continue to thrive.  Every penny that you give will go directly to programs that benefit all 340 students at Stevens Elementary.

Our goal for 2009-2010 is $100,000!

You can help in the following ways:

  • Make a donation today
  • See if your employer has a matching gift program.  If it does, please submit the appropriate paperwork
  • Vote to support Seattle Public Schools and funding for public education.

About Our School
Stevens Elementary was founded in 1906 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Today, Stevens has become a much sought-after school and an active member in the community.  It serves 340 students in grades K-5.  Stevens is truly diverse.  It is 47% non-white and about 32% of the student body qualifies for free and reduced lunch.  As an English Language Learner (ELL) target school, 26% of our students are from non-English speaking families.  Stevens strives for academic excellence, embraces diversity, and teaches social responsibility.

Where does the money go?  Our PTA funds:

  • Two certificated Math teachers, Jeannie Gleason and Susie Keithly

  • Our bi-lingual Instructional Assistant, Sergio Jara-Kessi

  • Our vocal music program, with instructor Edd Key

  • Our art program, with Artist-In-Residence, Darcy Marlow

  • Our Historian-In-Residence, Mary Anne Christy

  • Science curriculum enhancement through materials and school visits from Pacific Science Center’s Science on the Go program

  • After-school Enrichment Programs

  • Academic Support – Ensuring each child receives additional instructional attention

Our 09/10 fundraising goal is $100,000. This will allow us to continue these critical programs and potentially add the following essentials for our kids:

  • Further Classroom Teaching Assistance to improve the student-to-teacher ratio
