Teacher/Family Communication

It is my goal to communicate clearly and regularly with all families.  Communication takes place via several different media.

Whole Class

  • Web page - A general overview of what we are doing along with policies, procedures, and examples of student work.
  • Daily Group E-mail Bulletin. A brief overview of daily lessons and events - often including links to important websites, advice for work at home, and reminders of upcoming events and deadlines. .
  • Twice Monthly Newsletters (Newsflash) - My written update on current projects, advice, and advanced warnings about upcoming events. Especially important for families that don't use E-mail.

Individual Students

  • Private notes - Usually compliments about accomplishments or positive changes in behavior.
  • Personal E-mail - general communication about schedules and volunteering.  This is the BEST way to get a response from me if you don't need an immediate reply.
  • Phone calls - Generally reserved for last minute information or when behavior has become a serious problem.

Annual Parent Survey

Each year I distribute a survey to parents asking for feedback on homework, communication, discipline, level of challenge, and learning enrichment opportunities. I use the anonymous survey responses and student test data to further my professional development and improve my teaching year after year.
