The Stevens PTA is committed to
providing our students with a variety of enrichment
opportunities. Current PTA-supported programs include the
following:
1.
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM: Thanks to extensive volunteer
parent organization we are able to offer Stevens’ and other
community elementary students three eight-week after-school
sessions throughout the school year. Classes vary with each
session and include crafts, athletics, chess and music
opportunities.
2.
ART PROGRAM:
Art is an integral part of learning at Stevens. Our program
supports our teachers and students through our Art
Committee, Art Parents and
Artist-in-Residence program.
3.
HISTORY is brought to life for Stevens’
students through the Historian-in-Residence program. Our Historian-in-Residence
works with classroom teachers to plan lessons and activities
that give depth to a historical topic or era that students
are studying.
4.VOCAL MUSIC:
Stevens’ students love to sing!
Vocal music instruction and
instrument exposure begin in kindergarten and grow
throughout our students’ six years at Stevens.
Several of our enrichment programs were recently recognized
in an article published in Education Week and on edweek.org on February 3, 2009.
